Curriculum

At Bradfield we live out our vision of Learning to Live by providing our children with a range of opportunities to learn about the world and their place within it. We are preparing them for the next stage of their lives and building a love of learning which will last beyond their time at Bradfield CE Primary School.

Our curriculum is built upon these Golden Threads

Questioning

All units of work are led by a Big Question, we want our children to learn the value of questioning and believe that questions give purpose and challenge to learning.

Experiences

Learning is embedded through experiences and we endeavour to ensure that learning is active and offers children chances to learn outside of the traditional classroom.

Diversity

We take every opportunity to teach our children about the importance and richness of the world both within and beyond our school. We believe that equity begins with understanding and appreciating our differences.

Our curriculum is planned to be sequential and builds on previous learning. It is designed to meet the expectations of the National Curriculum and the key concepts for each subject as defined by subject specialists.

Please see our subject statements below which outline our intentions for each subject.

Schemes of Work

We use a range of schemes to support teaching and learning in different subjects:

Phonics - Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised

Maths – White Rose Maths

RE – Understanding Christianity, Diocese of Oxford

PE – Real PE

Music – Charanga

PSHE – PSHE Association

Computing – iCompute

All other subjects have been specifically designed by our teachers for the needs of our pupils.
