Year 4
Welcome to Rowan Class 2023-2024!
Hello,
Welcome to Year 4! On this page, you will find key information about Year 4. If there is anything you can't find, please do contact the school office or speak with me directly.
PE Day
PE will be on Monday and Thursday afternoons, straight after lunch (apart from in second half of Spring Term when we will be swimming).
Water Bottles
Please make sure your child has a named water bottle in school every day. These will be kept in the classroom and can be re-filled when needed.
Lunch
School lunches can be ordered on the day in school, but it is very helpful if you could pre-order these online beforehand. (Note – if you order from home, it cannot be changed in school)
Your child is welcome to bring a healthy snack for break time (e.g. a piece of fruit).
Equipment
All Key Stage Two pupils are to bring into school their own stocked pencil case. Pencil cases will be kept in your child’s tray so will need to be small and flat.
Please ensure your pencil case includes the following:
- HB Pencils
- White pencil eraser
- Pencil sharpener
- 30cm ruler
- Small selection of coloured pencils
- Whiteboard pens
- Glue stick
- Green biro
- Pair of scissors
- Blue handwriting pen
Please ensure that all equipment is labelled with your child’s name to ensure it gets back to them should anything go missing.
Homework
Homework will mostly be accessed and completed online. It will mostly be set on Microsoft Teams on Fridays and due to be completed by the following Friday. This will consist of a mixture of regular MyMaths, SPAG.com, and spellings on Spelling Shed. Please see below the web addressed for the online homework; your child will have their own login details sent home within the first couple of weeks.
MyMaths = https://www.mymaths.co.uk/
Spelling shed = https://www.spellingshed.com
SPAG.com = https://www.spag.com
Reading
It is SO important that your child continues to read daily. Reading is proven to help develop vocabulary, imagination, sentence structure and confidence and will support your child in their own writing. I will be asking the children to talk to me about the books that they are reading and will check during the daily registration that they have read at home.
I am looking forward to this coming term and spending time with your fantastic children.
Kind regards,
Mr Millward
